Big Opps Recovery!!

Oh my have I been busy uploading most of my gallery paintings after deleting them with a quick click of a key. Somehow I must figure a way to save a back up of all my work in the same format as my web page.

All my life I charge in..... and then read the directions later, so I am familar with Big Opps'es. At what age will I learn?

A thank you goes out to Dan and Zac for trying to help me recoop my stuff, I am sure they are thinking what has this old lady been smoking??

Think I will make myself a cup of tea and think serene thoughts.

I goofed and deleted 95% of my paintings from my web site! I have no words to describe my state of mind except sort of like a panda in the head lights.

Please bear with me.

Twelve collage pieces completed for Calendart.

Step one was to present a framed art work to be juried in, whoo, made it into the Calendart event with Damsel Fly.

I decided to take the road less traveled and invent "The Year of the Bug", also I wanted to use my newely learned paste paper technique. Each selected artist then had to create 12 more 5x7 pictures to be used in the fundraiser calendar. I created a baker's dozen just case one was really not up to my high whimsical standards. It was fun and time consuming but Art Mundo is worth the effort.

Now that you have seen the first picture I will show you the last one titled House Fly. Subtitled; "Sometimes you get the bug and sometimes the bug gets you"

Wish you could see the iridescence of the fly's wings and isn't that some chameleon?

Next I will try a plaster collage technique that I read about in the newest issue of Cloth Paper Scissors.

Experimenting with Paste Paper

I am trying to follow up with the things I learned at my Paste Paper Workshop. I think I have all the supplies; watercolor paper, wall paper paste, acrylic paints and a big surface to work on. No project in mind yet, I just want to freely make different color and designs on my paste papers.

My first attempts looks like this:

After they dried I in added more paste mixture with a contrasting or interesting color and pulled textures through them. Wall paper paste was used on my first papers but it was a bit messy.

The teacher used Floetrol as the paste medium so I found that at Lowe's and will try it today. The Floetrol was easier to use and less mess.

My next task is to group my papers in piles that I think would be attractive in my different projects. Art Mundo's Calendarart is my first challenge that I will try using my new papers. When I complete a few I will show you the results.

What a delightful day spent learning Paste Paper Collage. I took a workshop at Art Mundo from Ginny Piech Street and found it; as Ginny would say..."Way Cool!". This will be my next artistic adventure because I got that creative urgency that says try this, try it now! Anyway here is my first attempt and I call it Cool Dude. I would love some feedback.
